LSU Residential Life's plan to minimize the chances of a COVID-19 outbreak on campus as we enter the fall semester include the expectation that students should respect social distancing. This however, is not enough to ensure the health and safety of our campus, especially since our incoming freshman class is comprised of 7,000 local, national, and international students who are required to live on campus their first year. Additionally, residence halls with communal bathrooms and 3 to 4 person rooms are going to be occupied. The risk of an outbreak is existential, and it is for this reason that we are asking that LSU waive all fees associated with cancelling on-campus housing contract and waive the requirement that first year students must live on campus.
